Over a thrilling Easter Long Weekend the SALMA hosted Easter Cup, Interstate Challenge and the South Australian Late Model State Championships were held at Mildura Speedway. It was a weekend at which some of the best battled on this fantastic track and it was an opportunity for fans from all over Australia to congregate and see the countries top Late Models in action. With heats on Friday and Sunday nights, it was Sydney lads Darryl Grimson in the "The Finance Group" entry and Barry Kelleher in the Motofoto Hillermans entry that led the field into the Sunday feature. After some exemplary racing in the heats, the feature saw blood rushing to heads and considerable damage. At the end of the night it was the East Coast specialists who occupied the podium with Scott McPherson in the Canberra Better Trailers car, followed closely and proudly by Darryl Grimson and Barry Kelleher. Results will be posted when they are available. In the meantime congratulations to all - especially Lyle Dicker and Stewart Jordan for superb drives in the feature for 4th and 5th. |

Revenge has been had. In an incredibly tight and tense final to the twin featured NSW State Championships WA driver Brad Blake in the famous "The "0" Show" entry has restored interstate imbalances by wresting the NSW State Title from this fair state. Not that we can complain too much, it was just over 12 months ago that our own Scott McPherson first twisted the knife on the WA folk by bringing their title to the East. Just as WA had to contend with no WA 1 car, we now have to face a season with no NSW 1 car. Brad Blake impressed mightily with his race craft and his warmth towards all and it was fair to say that until the end of the feature race, it looked like McPherson was going to hold the title - however a spectacular pass on the outside saw Blake demonstrate the class that has taken him to so many titles in the West. It was an appreciated win and the East Coast lads now know they have a true artist in their midst. All look forward to competing with Blake on what will hopefully become frequent visits east. On the evening | 1st and NSW Champion | Brad Blake | | 2nd and outgoing NSW and WA State champion | Scott McPherson | | 3rd and absolute legend | Darryl Grimson |
As other resuits become available I will endeavour to post them. Congratulations to all participants and well done Brad Blake (Will you now become "The "1" Show?) |

Will WA get it's revenge for last year when Scott McPherson captured the WA State title at Northam Speedway? The phenomenally quick Brad Blake, WA's The "0" Show, showed his class at Tamworth last night by taking the first feature of the NSW State Titles. Blake managed to pip McPherson for evening honours by winning the feature after each of the two respective State Title winners managed to excel in their heats with two wins and a second place apiece. It was not a night for the faint hearted with mechanical damage affecting a number of the competitors. Unfortunately, as a result of mechanical damage, it appears one of the stalwarts of East Coast Late Model Racing in the Northern Region, Ken Croft, will not be competing at his home track of Gunnedah tonight. Also believed to be out for tonight's second leg is inaugural Casio G-Shock Late Model Dirt Racing Champion Dean Smith - hopefully both will prove me wrong. |

The Gunnedah based Daracon Croft Racing Dirt Late Model Team will compete in its own ‘backyard’ this weekend when the NSW Dirt Late Model Championship is contested at Tamworth and Gunnedah Speedways. Friday March 27 will see several Heats contested at Tamworth Speedway before the title chase moves to Gunnedah Speedway on the Saturday evening (March 28) for further Heats and the Championship Final. "Its great to only have to travel a short distance to race this weekend compared to our normal haul to Parramatta and back" said Daracon Croft Racing Team Principal and Driver Ken Croft. |
